North-east of the city centre, Benton's older streets give way to the big post-war estate at Longbenton, Forest Hall's terraces and the planned township of Killingworth. Lawns everywhere, front and back.

Longbenton and Benton

Longbenton is one of the largest post-war estates in the area, with semis and short terraces set behind front lawns and long back gardens. Benton has a mix of 1930s semis and newer homes. Lawns here are typically generous and well used, and the soil is heavy clay.

Forest Hall

Forest Hall's Victorian and Edwardian terraces and semis have smaller back gardens, some with lane access. They're often shaded by neighbouring houses and walls.

Killingworth

Killingworth was built as a new township from the 1960s onwards, with later estates added around the lake and towards Killingworth Village. Many homes have open-plan front lawns that join the neighbours', and fenced back gardens. Turf meets turf at the boundaries, so we take care with edges.

Common questions

Is Killingworth covered?

Yes, along with the rest of North Tyneside.

Can you match the edge of an open-plan lawn?

Yes. We cut a clean line where the new turf meets next door's.
