Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our turf laying process, preparation, and costs.

How much does turf laying cost?
Every garden is unique. Your quote is custom-built based on access, excavation needs, and topsoil depth. Because we source directly from local farms and handle the waste ourselves, we provide highly competitive, fixed-price quotes with no hidden fees.
Are you local turf suppliers near me?
Yes! We supply premium turf across Newcastle, Sunderland, Durham, Gateshead, and Northumberland. Our turf comes directly from trusted local North East farms and is cut the exact same day it is laid in your garden.
Do you remove the old grass and soil?
Yes, our full installation process includes complete excavation. We remove all waste, old grass, weeds, and surface rubble, ensuring zero mess is left behind on your property.
Do I need to rotovate my garden first?
No, you do not need to lift a finger. Our team handles all the heavy rotovating and soil preparation for you. Proper rotovating requires heavy machinery to break through compacted clay, which we provide.
Do you supply the topsoil too?
Yes. Once we have excavated the bad soil, we provide and spread thick layers of nutrient-rich, screened topsoil. This creates the perfect drainage and rooting environment for your new lawn.
How soon can you install?
We can often schedule a free site visit within 48 hours. Depending on the season, we can usually complete full garden installations within 1 to 2 weeks from the day you accept the quote.
When can I walk on my new lawn?
We strongly advise keeping off the new turf for at least 14 to 21 days. This gives the delicate new roots time to knit securely into the topsoil underneath without being crushed or moved.
Is real grass better than artificial turf?
Absolutely. Natural turf stays cool in the summer, absorbs carbon dioxide, helps with local flooding by draining naturally, is self-cleaning, and is completely safe for pets and children. Artificial grass gets dangerously hot and traps pet odors.
Do you lay turf in the winter?
Yes, turf can be laid year-round as long as the ground is not frozen solid or completely flooded. Winter laying is actually very successful because the turf requires significantly less watering to establish!
