The 60-Minute Window
When premium turf is unrolled in your garden, it has already been out of the ground for several hours. The soil base is beginning to dry, and the plant is stressed. The absolute most critical moment of the entire installation is the very first watering.
Water Immediately
You must not wait until the evening. You must not wait until the whole garden is finished if it's a massive job. The turf must be heavily watered the literal minute it is laid on the soil. Our installation teams often start the sprinkler on the first section of the lawn while they are still laying the final section.
The Soaking Rule
A light sprinkle is useless. The water must penetrate all the way through the turf roll and soak the topsoil beneath it. If you lift the corner of the new grass, the mud underneath should be squelchy and wet. This immediate deluge locks the turf to the soil and instantly breaks the plant out of drought stress.
