The 4-Week Survival Plan
A new lawn is a living investment. Follow this strict timeline to ensure your turf roots deeply and thrives for decades.
Week 1 & 2: The Hydration Phase
- Watering: Water heavily twice a day (morning and late evening). Ensure the water penetrates through the turf into the topsoil. If gaps appear between the rolls, you are not watering enough.
- Usage: STRICTLY NO FOOT TRAFFIC. Keep children and dogs completely off the lawn.
Week 3: The Rooting Phase
- Watering: Reduce watering to once a day. The roots are now actively searching for water deeper in the soil.
- The Tug Test: Gently pull on a handful of grass. If you feel resistance, the roots have anchored into the topsoil.
Week 4: The First Cut
- Mowing: Once the turf passes the tug test, you can perform the first mow. Ensure the grass is dry, and set your mower blade to the HIGHEST possible setting. Do not scalp the new lawn!
- Usage: You can now begin light, normal usage of the lawn. Avoid placing heavy, static objects like trampolines on the grass for prolonged periods.
