The Cure for Dark, Mossy Gardens
If your garden is shaded by tall fences, extensions, or large mature trees, standard turf will slowly starve. Without enough sunlight for photosynthesis, the grass thins out, the soil stays damp, and thick moss quickly takes over the entire lawn.
How Shade-Tolerant Turf Works
We use a highly specialised blend of fescue grasses, specifically Festuca rubra, which requires roughly 50% less direct sunlight than standard lawn grass. It also features a deeper, more aggressive root system to compete with tree roots for water and nutrients.
Preparation is Key
Because shaded areas are naturally damper, they are prone to waterlogging. We counter this by rotovating the existing soil and bringing in a free-draining topsoil mix before laying the shade-tolerant turf, ensuring the surface stays as dry and moss-free as possible.
