Mastering the Curves
Laying turf in straight lines is easy. The true test of a professional installation is how the grass interacts with the hard landscaping—curved patios, circular flower beds, and winding garden paths. If you try to bend the turf to fit the curve, it will overlap, die, and look terrible.
The Professional Edging Technique
We never try to bend the rolls. Instead, we use a technique called 'cut to fit'.
- Roll Over the Edge: We unroll the turf straight across the curved border or patio, allowing the excess grass to drape over the hard edge.
- The Half-Moon Iron: Rather than using a flimsy knife, we use a razor-sharp 'half-moon edging iron' or a heavy-duty serrated landscaping knife.
- The Precision Slice: Using the patio or path as a physical guide, we slice cleanly downward through the soil base of the turf. This creates a millimeter-perfect, seamless curve that perfectly hugs the hard landscaping with zero gaps or overlaps.
This precision cutting ensures a flawless, high-end finish that defines the shape of your entire garden.
