When turf is cut at the farm, it undergoes massive stress. To survive in its new home, it needs to establish a new root system as quickly as possible. While our premium screened topsoil provides an excellent natural base, adding a specialised pre-turfing fertilizer acts like a shot of adrenaline for the new grass.
The Power of Phosphorus
Standard lawn feeds are high in Nitrogen, which forces the grass blades to grow tall and green. You do not want this for new turf! If the blades grow too fast before the roots are established, the turf will exhaust its energy and die.
Instead, a pre-turfing fertilizer is high in Phosphorus. Phosphorus specifically stimulates rapid, explosive root growth deep into the soil. We apply this specialised granular feed directly to the topsoil bed and rake it in just before unrolling the turf. As you water the new lawn, the nutrients dissolve directly into the root zone, ensuring your turf anchors securely in record time.
