Why New Build Gardens Cost More to Fix
If you have just bought a new build home, your garden is likely a mix of dense clay, buried bricks, and compacted subsoil. Simply buying a few rolls of turf and placing them on top will result in a dead, waterlogged swamp by Christmas. Doing the job right requires heavy lifting.
The 3 Cost Factors
When quoting a new build, we factor in three distinct phases:
- 1. The Excavation & Waste: We often have to use mini-diggers to scrape away the top layer of contaminated soil. Hiring skips or grab-lorries to legally dispose of this heavy construction waste is a significant portion of the cost.
- 2. The Topsoil Import: Because the builders stripped the good soil away, we have to put it back. Importing tons of premium screened loam is essential to create a 4-inch rooting bed.
- 3. The Turf & Labor: Once the base is perfectly leveled, we install fresh, locally sourced turf.
